If you re concerned about security on your computer network, there s a new word to add to your vocabulary rootkit. A rootkit is a set of utilities installed on your computer whose purpose is to hide what other programs are doing. They ve been around for a few years, but they didn t really hit the security spotlight until November 2005. That was when researchers discovered that some CDs from Sony were installing a rootkit on user computers as part of their DRM Digital Rights Management software. The purpose of the rootkit was to prevent the DRM software from being detected and uninstalled but there was an unintended side effect. The rootkit opened a security hole on those computers that couldn t be detected by standard security software, and left them vulnerable to attacks by malicious software and hackers. That s bad news for users and IT professionals who depend on virus and spyware detection programs to alert them to an invader on their networks...
Asthma: The Effect Of Diet On Your Breathing Health
Posted on September 20, 2010 by Malinda
The key point to remember here is that everything you eat will make you breathe more deeply. Some foods will make you breathe more than other foods. Plus there is some individual variation in how much people respond do different foods. With this issue please realize that you will need to eat something to stay alive. As all foods increase your breathing depth because of the digestive process , your breathing is going to be affected, there is no avoiding it. The strategy is simply when your breathing is poor, and you are having symptoms, eat as little as possible and eat the foods that have least effect on your breathing. Remember that the problem is to do with your breathing, that is where the most important focus of your recovery should be. Education In Developing Countries
Posted on July 24, 2010 by Herlinda
How do developing countries handle education amid the more pressing everyday challenges imposed by economic pressures and threats to security, law and order. Certainly, there are more serious problems to face, but it is significant to note that education is not forgotten. For many, it is still the best way to overcome hardship and poverty. However elusive, it is still considered the key to a better life. Among developing countries that are classified as emerging markets, it is not surprising to see educational institutions that are world-class and which offer education that can rival that provided by wealthier nations around the world. These include such countries as Mexico, India, Brazil, Turkey, the Philippines, Egypt, South Africa, Malaysia, Thailand, much of South America and several of the Persian Gulf Arab States. Unfortunately, although world-class education is readily available, it is still beyond reach for a significant portion of the...
The Parts Of A Paintball Gun
Posted on June 17, 2010 by Joannie
It is important to know the different parts involved in the makeup of a paintball gun. The different elements are crucial to the successful working of your marker, and beginners will often be confused when receiving instructions because of their lack of knowledge of what the basic parts are. Knowing the parts of your paintball gun will also help you have a better idea of what you should be looking at when it is time to clean or upgrade your marker. The body of the marker is the largest part of the gun. The body refers to the area of the gun that incorporates the trigger frame, the valve, and the bolt. All of these pieces can be detached from each other in order to incorporate new equipment, but only experts on their guns should attempt this. Makers of paintball guns have a fairly standard approach when it comes to the body of the gun, with the main difference being in the placement of the trigger and the barrel. Pushing the trigger frame forward...
College Interviews General Questions
Posted on April 23, 2010 by Elvia
There are many factors that make a great interview, but the most important of all are the answers. Your college interview preparation must start by thinking of all the possible questions that you may be asked, and some questions that you will want to ask too. Why research and focus on the questions. Most applicants feel that they know what they want, and that their life has, in some way drove them to this point, trying to get into a college to peruse the career that they want. I certainly hope you know why you got to this point in your life and what made you make the choices that led you here. The overwhelming majority of candidates know this, or think they do, but a lot of them has never said it out load, had their reasons criticized and undermined, or had to ague about aspects of their decision making. A college interview basically comes down to that, think that you are talking with one of these pessimistic people that always find the fault in...
A Colorful Plate Year-round
Posted on March 19, 2010 by Hubert
Our family is in the habit of going to a local farmers market during the summer and fall to get farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. I admit that I have to work a bit harder during the off- season, when seasonal produce is less plentiful, to make sure that my plate is just as colorful. For overall health, eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is essential year-round. A good starting place in your quest for color is the freezer case. Frozen melon cubes, berries, peach slices and even pineapple chunks are available year-round. Frozen spinach is one of my favorites for convenience-it is washed, cut and ready to be tossed into a soup or pasta dish. From a nutritional standpoint, it has just as much vitamin A and fiber as fresh-cooked spinach. Next, stop in the canned fruit and vegetable aisle. Our studies show that the nutrition value of canned fruits and vegetables is comparable to fresh and frozen varieties, notes Barbara Klein, Ph.D., professor of...
